RE:Head unit replacement requirements?

Subject: RE:Head unit replacement requirements?

The head unit is just a controller for the tuner/amp in the rear compartment. Most of the wiring you will need terminates at the tuner/amp, and you will need to extend the wiring and antenna lead to the new stereo in the dash.

This Metra wiring harness is designed to extend the wiring from the tuner/amp in the rear compartment to a dash mounted aftermarket radio with powered speaker outputs.

You will still need to do the resistor mod because the factory head unit interfaces with the dimmer circuit, and removing the head unit generates a computer code that will flash "sys" on the digital dash display.
