Re: Stereo Upgrade 2013!

Ok... details...

I had to replace some stuff... the awesome Alpine 7998 head unit I had was aging out. The vacuum florencent display was dead... and there is not much hope of fixing it. So I sold it on ebay. The unit worked, but there was no chance of seeing what station you were one, or, how to make any of the delicate setting adjustments...

A few months back, a friend gave me a couple of JL Audio 8W7 subs. These are intense little bastards... weigh like 15 lbs each. But I didn't have enough amp...

until about 2 weeks ago the JL Audio 500/5 blew... the right front channel made this demonic screech and died.

It all goes away...

In the dash has gone a Kenwood execelon 797. Front, rear and sub RCA outs, 4v. HD radio, Bluetooth, CD player, Sat Ready. Very nice and only $175 as on open box from Crutchfield.

The front stage (Canton RS3 3-way separates) will be powered by a Focal FPP-2100... 80 watts per channel, 2 channels.

To feed the subs, Pioneer GM-D8601 800 watt 1 ohm stable, mono amp. That should be ok.

Install is today. I will update.
