Subject: Re: [C6] Next up... A New Stereo!!! by bogus on 2017/9/1 19:00:28 Yes, it is up and running. After two separate CRUX interfaces... they do not work on C6 Corvettes, no matter the audio system. Crutchfield sent me the PAC GM interface and it works perfectly! Sounds pretty good, considering it's hooked to junk GM amps and speakers... The factory system has horrible crossover points. Each frequency group is its own island of weirdness. They are there, but the slope is yuck at best. I am now working on the sub box. I have a pair of JL Audio 8W7's. OMG are they nice... but the little shits ain't little. The minimum sized box is 10" square by 9" deep, external dimension. This is very problematic in the C6 hatch... there ain't no space for the top to fit. The C6 hatch is much shallower than the C4 - 4" or so, at least. Consider they need .85 cf boxes, each, space is a problem. I am leaning, heavily, towards either a pair of these: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610TW3 ... io-10TW3-D4.html?tp=68872 or a single 12" version. I am thinking that 2 10" would compensate for the performance issues of a shallow sub. At the same time, the reviews are real good for these. and the box, for the 10", is only .519 for each... and is only 5" high... sooo.... I have a Pioneer 800w mono amp to push them too. No problem there. Not sure what I want in the front. I have a Focal 2 channel that is really nice. But I don't know if I want to go 4 channel or what. I want to replace the rear speakers - they are in the halo - and perhaps drive them with the rear channel of the head unit. They don't need to be loud, just to help raise the soundstage. I have a pair of MATCH 4" coax drivers. As for the front, MATCH makes an three-way separate, with an 8" mid-bass, designed for BMW fit... but they should fit the doors of a C6. Thoughts? |
