Congrats. The 5.3 is a bitcin' engine. Mine's in a 2wd, 2000 Silverado, 130k miles. The motor: uses zero oil, has zero leaks and pulls my 3,500 lb enclosed trailer & racecar over a 8,000 ft. mountain at 60mph. 18 mpg around town, 24 on a trip, but again, 2wd.
At 130k, the only thing I've done to the motor has been replacing the EGR check valves to pass smog.
Bought for $12,500 5 years ago w/64k miles. Now at 130k, I replaced one front wheel bearing and that's it.
