Engine swap update |
Subject: Engine swap update by wesmigletz on 2008/11/17 15:44:45 Decided to start a new thread since the other one took an unwanted turn. Got the engine in and fired-up yesterday. I didn't get it started until late Sunday... I spent too much time on Saturday helping another friend with his car. Engine started right-up. However, I had to shut it down before tuning. The new Edelbrock SWP did not allow the water pump pulley to line-up with the stock crank pulley. The Edelbrock pump pushed the water pump pulley out too far. I'ved used two different $30 Airtex waterpumps on the car, on different engines, and neither had an alignment problem. The Edelbrock water pump was around $140 at the Service Center. I was told it was a direct replacement pump. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Since the motor mount on C1s run between the block and water pump, changing water pumps always makes for a good time. At this point, I'm debating about whether I should take a BFH and try to drive the pulley in 1/8", or simply swap the Airtex pump from the 327, and take the BFH to the Edelbrock pump once it's off the car... decisions, decisions. |
