The more I look at this , the more I think it wouldn't be that easy. Where the 2 - 2 in tubes go into the 3 in piece, there's going to be big gaps to fill in either by heating the 3 in and hammering it down to conform to the 2 in pieces or making up small pieces and welding them in.
