As much as I have always hated those caps...

I really like the way that looks!

I never really liked them at first either but I think it really depends on the car and the style. The ones I had seen were very tall and looked out of place on most street cars. In Curt's case this lid is flawless in it's design, it's not too tall, it installs clean, and it matches everything about his car.

The flange at the base of the lid simple sits on top of the lip under the deck surface that the stock hinge ring sits on. There are four stock screws that hold that ring in place. Installation was a simple matter of removing those four screws with a stubby screwdriver and removing the ring and lid together. Then the new lid sits on that lip...not sandwiching anything at all, and the four supplied screws go in the same way the old ones came out, to hold it in place just like the ring. The flange sits on the lip, sitting flush with the top of the deck. The finger depression is the only bad part, and even that doesn't look bad at all.

The more I saw them on certain cars I really liked them more and more. I know it wouldn't look good on my particular Vette but for Curt it was perfect.
