As usual the BS flows out of DB"s mouth. It is an incorrect way to check End Play in the bearings.
1 You need to jack up the vehicle
2 Remove the wheel and out board half shaft
3 Mount a dial indicator to torgue control arm and rest the pointer on the flange or spindle
4 Grasp the rotor and move it in and out axially in and out and observe the readings...........001-.008 limit

The 6 and 12 rock will indicate excessively worn torgue arm bushing or stut arm bushings
