Subject: Impending disaster averted.... by Ultraman on 2012/6/15 23:41:31 We were out on a drive and I had the air conditioning on for the first time. As I made a sharp left turn Uwoman asked what's that noise? I said I couldn't hear anything so we made another sharp left turn and she said can't you hear that? Uh....no. I said what's it sound like she said like gurgaling water....hmmmm said I. Well about that time I ran across a post or heard TB talking about the udders on a C5 and started doing some research. I checked the udders and they were clean but the car was not dripping when the AC was on. TB posted a thread and it showed where the AC drains out on the ground. If that plugs up and the water does not drain it comes out in the cabin on the passenger side floor right where all heavy duty electronic stuff is going to get fried. You have to have the car in the air to get to it from the bottom and then its tight. The tell tale is if you have a wet carpet on the passenger side and no drips underneith. A wet carpet can come from other things like bad weather seal after driving in the rain but we never get rain so I pulled the floor mat back and the carpet was just a little damp so I tore the cover off the computers and did not find any moisture in that area. I took the car down and put it on the hoist and reached up in there and found the drain hose and squeezed it and moved it around and got drenched as the water all released and poured out on the floor. Seemed about a gallon but probably only two cups or so. So I cought it just in time and if you are a C5 owner you need to check if its draining by looking under the car with AC on. If no wet then you got to clear that drain. I did not remove the drain hose just cleared it and the flood of water did the rest. It is up by the starter so when it's doing its job the water dripping will be towards the center of the car. I wet vac'd the carpet and now have a fan on it.
