Subject: Re: Seat Easy Entry = ON by NelsonV on 2008/3/28 4:44:15 [I actually figured this out (finally) a few days ago. But I've been too busy/lazy/tired/forgetful to post an update.] (The other day) I pulled the car into a stall, with my foot on the brake placed the shifter in park, then reached for the key to shut off the ignition. Just as I placed my fingers on the key (but before I could grasp and turn it) the seat started to move rearward toward egress. Suspecting a bad ignition switch/key cylinder, I drove the car on an clear, open road and jiggled the key in the ignition and voila! The seat started to move back. And yes, this was while driving down the road (slowly)! Apparently, I have a bad ignition lock cylinder. It's amazing there isn't some safety consideration to lockout the "auto-seat-egress-position" feature when the car is not in park/neutral (i.e. fail-safe). Fortunately, the seat doesn't move too rapidly, but it can be dangerous at the wrong place/time. So, until I can replace the lock cylinder, it's now: Seat Easy Entry = OFF! Nelson V. |
