If the paint looks etched, it probably is.
This "shit" can eat thru the clear and eat into the basecoat. If it's into the base, touchup paint is the only answer.

Try a little Meguiars Cleaner Wax or ScratchX (or similar), if the color shows up on the rag, you'll need touchup paint.
