I have a '72 coupe with a not factory radio. I would like to replace it with a factory look a like radio but with modern features. Did the original radio have "corvette" on it? Was it black or chrome? What modern radio would look original but have lots of modern features to it?

Here's what the factory correct / after market replicas look like.

You'll find there are twp pr three companies that make them, Auto Sound being one of them, and the price ranges from around $350 to near $700.

Quality of these units has been MUCH debated, and I've gathered there are folks that would rather find a used original one instead of these after market offerings. Seems the quality is sketchy and for the price you pay, which is near what a plasma flat screen costs...it should be borderline perfect car audio.

Another option you may look into, is hiding the after market stereo you have, maybe in a storage compartment where it still functions, and putting a factory original in the dash just for the 'look'.
