... in not very precise order.

Everything is muddy ... the pit walk on Friday morning is busy, busy, busy ... Bill Ford looks very serious in the Ford pits ... watching Johnny O'Connell practice driver changes takes me back to the early 2000s ... seeing the iconic Dunlop Bridge for the first time ... meeting three of the Corvette Racing drivers—they are all so thin ... the cathedral in downtown Le Mans brings Steve McQueen viscerally to mind ... original GT40s parade by ... playing all the national anthems takes a while ... Brad Pitt is the official starter ... hard rain and windy as the race starts with the safety car in front ... as many have noted before, the Corvettes have a distinctive sound ... LMP1 cars are both the quietest and the fastest ... Patrick Dempsey gets interviewed every two hours or so ... tons of folks wearing Corvette regalia ... it takes a while to walk anywhere ... an impressive array of Corvettes in the Corvette Corral ... night falls and anybody who does not have an excellent camera will have trouble—the cars are just too fast ... I notice that I smile every time a C7.R goes flying by ... excellent Americans at Le Mans exhibit tent with a good variety of cars ... as the night wears on the crowds get younger and crazier ... hot chocolate takes an edge off the surprising cold ... Audi R18 reliability is way off this year ... the sound of the cars circling the track is ever-present ... far less folks around on Sunday than in Saturday ... Milner crashes hard but he's okay ... fatigue has definitely set in for just about everybody ... drama in the last five minutes ... Toyota heartbroken
