Re: what type of posi units

I know Detroit makes a True Track for the Vette/Viper D44 IRS.

Other than that your stuck with the stock posi or modifying a D44 spool by drilling it for set screws to hold the stub axels in.

I've contemplated doing a spool in my car a number of times but I always end up just putting new clutches in the posi.

I can tell you with the power my car has the clutches only lasted about 35-40 passes before I started getting the occasional single wheel peel in the burn out box.... the last 10-15 passes I have made this year were all very easy on it in the burn out box to prevent (yet) another exploded posi unit.

There are a hundred options for lockers/posi/diffs for the regular D44 and I've often wondered if the only difference between them and our IRS diffs is how the side gears (spider gears) are machined for the Clips that the IRS stub axels use v/s regular C Clips for the D44.

It's just too much $$$ to buy one of each diff to see whats up and the tech lines are always like "you have what?? and you want to do what??"....

So for me next year it looks like I'll put new clutches in it again and contemplate building another center section with a spool.

Yukon Gear makes up to a 4.56 ratio gear set for our cars... Currently I have a 4.11 and my car and it traps 127+mph in the 1/4 mile (in good air). Once I get the tune sorted and the car starts making the power it should I'm good to about 134mph before I run out of RPM (7200) with my engine combo. I using 4th gear and running a 315/35R17 radial tire.
