I never hear about anyone working on the posi in these.

I assume they wear out and lose grip. I can turn my posi with a breaker bar on the spindle nut so I can't imagine 200 ft lbs amounts to a hill of beans when the rear tires are laying down 2,500 ft-lbs of torque (after gear multipication).

Is there a spec to check these against?

Is there any aftermarket stuff for the Cherokee D44ICA? Although I've heard the carriers are different and only the ring/pinion are actually shared between them and the C4.

I found this info.

http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showth ... wer-lok-rebuild-questions

What I have found on mine is once the clutches start not clicking my TQ wrench below 100FTLBS it starts spinning one tire occasionally in the water box. I know it's a matter of time before it breaks something doing that.

I use a TQ wrench set on 100LBS with a 36mm, car in neutral and one rear tire off the ground. I check it after every race. Once it got below 100LBS this year I could watch it get weaker in big jumps every weekend.... the next weekend it was down to 75lbs and then 50lbs the week after that, which is when they shut the track down. Now there is some regular street driving added in there every week as well but I don't beat on this car on the street. Like I said mine lasted 35-40 passes before it went below 100LBS.

For the newer Jeep D44. Aftermarket there are electric lockers, air lockers, Detroit Locker, Eaton clutch type posi, Aurburn cone type posi, True Track.... pretty much everything.

Without actually having one in my hand to compare I can't say how different they are. I'd like to see one first hand and compare it to my Corvette diff, just to see if I could make it fit....

Which reminds me... our new Grand Cherokee has the Quadra Drive II.... D44 lockers front and rear.... Maybe I can talk Elsie into letting me "change the diff fluid"....
