Yep, that's a great way to describe it. Lockers are great for hard core off road use (rock climbing, going through deep tire grooves or ditches, or deep mud), but not so great on the road. With that being said, it's even better to be able to control the lockers through an Atlas system. Attached is when you need lockers.

This is why I get a kick out of folks saying how well their positrack 2wd trucks do on the road, which most of the time is really limited slip.... but that's a whole other story.
