Subject: GM Idiots by BillH on 2010/6/10 14:30:12 GM is under the gun in an effort to rebrand itself as America's car company in a world where the government owns a significant portion of the automaker. The New York Times reports that in an effort to "present a consistent brand message," GM has sent out a memo asking Chevrolet dealers and employees to quit using the classic term "Chevy." This is silly and pointless, and screams "marketing consultants are spending too much tax money," but whatever, we hope it works. (via Jonathan Miller) NYT: Wed ask that whether youre talking to a dealer, reviewing dealer advertising, or speaking with friends and family, that you communicate our brand as Chevrolet moving forward, said the memo, which was signed by Alan Batey, vice president for Chevrolet sales and service, and Jim Campbell, the G.M. divisions vice president for marketing. |
