Human error on my part cannot be ruled out. I am hoping for a similar deal. New seal and pan gasket arrived yesterday, so I will get on it next weekend after I return from California.

Do you need the Kent Moore tool for the seal?

Thanks for the offer Steve, but I should be ok.
It is an old 400 block w/ a 2pc rear seal. The plastic shoehorn the provide should let it slip in.
