It is absolutely incredible to me how many of them lack any social skills what-so-ever. Just getting them to keep their cell phone in their pocket long enough to do the simplest of tasks is one of the hardest of tasks. Much less getting them to understand the concept that their tips are based on quality of service and not a given right. The problem is that their parents take car of all their expenses, call in for them when they don't want to work. Don't get me wrong, it's not all of the kids. We have some really great ones that will go on to make a real difference on this planet. But most of them just come in, stand around and socialize, and expect to make money. The idea of the work ethic is gone. Why should they work? They ask Mom and Dad and they get whatever they want because Mom and Dad don't want to hurt their feelings. From the time I was 15, my parents fed me and gave me a place to sleep. Anything else was up to me. I paid for my first car, the repairs, my clothes, and alot of my school supplies. My bosses loved me! |
