People of like mind were separated geographically from neighbors of opposing or differing views. This usually came as the result of prior wars, feuds and territory grabs. Today we live in a diluted world where ideologies have mixed into other cultures. Just look at people here in the states. There is plenty of hate and distrust to fuel racism and bigotry for generations to come. Eye for and eye has been utilized frequently. US likes to practice eye for a head.
