Both are weight limited to stock weight. Balancing is allowed. The cylinder squirt hole in the rods can be closed (which I do have done) The Scat crank is much stronger than stock (should be for $899). Forged pistons were approved 4 years ago but are identical dimensionally to the stock ones. 4 of them cost $520 plus $150 for oversized rings (so you can set the gaps). Forged rods (Crower with ARP bolts) $550 are legal but identical to stock. Flywheel lightened to 15.5 lbs. Pertronix is legal, vacuum advance removed, points mounting plate locked (using a Sun machine). 2 barrel Weber (modified) Porting & polishing legal if you stay under the legal port opening sizes. Crank scrapers and smoothing the block bottom for oil return are legal. The oil pan holds less that 1/2 quart. Using these better components has doubled the engine life to around 40 hours before a rebuild. |
