Allowed to do anything different with the Pistons or Rods?

Both are weight limited to stock weight. Balancing is allowed.

The cylinder squirt hole in the rods can be closed (which I do have done)

The Scat crank is much stronger than stock (should be for $899).

Forged pistons were approved 4 years ago but are identical dimensionally to the stock ones. 4 of them cost $520 plus $150 for oversized rings (so you can set the gaps).

Forged rods (Crower with ARP bolts) $550 are legal but identical to stock.

Flywheel lightened to 15.5 lbs.

Pertronix is legal, vacuum advance removed, points mounting plate locked (using a Sun machine).

2 barrel Weber (modified)

Porting & polishing legal if you stay under the legal port opening sizes.

Crank scrapers and smoothing the block bottom for oil return are legal. The oil pan holds less that 1/2 quart.

Using these better components has doubled the engine life to around 40 hours before a rebuild.
