The fog, when we left, was so thick, visibility. was only about 1/8 mile. Stayed that way for the first thirty miles. Once past that point it cleared up. Our first stop was La Junta, Co. (about two hours out) as once we left there the next possible stop (with a restroom) is 75 miles away. There were a couple of times I ran the Corvette up into the triple digits. Didn't stop in that town though and continued on for another hour to a small college town to fill with gas and grab a bite to eat. Mid 70s to low 80s is where the temps have hovered, mid 60s at the top of Wolf Creek Pass (10,800' elevation) Beetle kill in the pines at the pass was amazing, probably 95% of the trees up there. We arrived and the unit was ready, so check in was quick. Well, we have to go buy some food for the week. |
