Evening guys...it has been a busy day. Got up early and we got the kids off to school. Once that was done, we got to loading up the trailer, cars and my pickup and went out to the Kansas Speedway where the big BBQ deal is going on. And I do mean BIG! The entire infield is setup with over 900 different teams. SIL and I brought the smokers and the grills out last night, that saved us a real headache today. Took about an hour and a half, then SIL and I took the pickup and drove half way to downtown to pickup the meat....$1000 worth of brisket, pork butts, ribs and chicken. Two big coolers and a small one filled. Back to the speedway where we spent another hour preparing five of the briskets to start smoking.

The sponsors, where #3 works, use the American Royal to throw a party for the employees. That happens tomorrow night. And about 90% of the 900+ teams throw parties too. Ours has a big area, a live band during the party tomorrow and the big feed. We heard today that one of the teams is having Sawyer Brown playing their party.....it is just freaking unbelievable.

Anyway, shortly after noon, Rosie and I decided we had done everything we could and had earrands to run before the grands got out of school, which we needed to be home for. Some went to HF for some things (Rosie went to Joann Fabrics, next door to HF). Then we stalled at the tool repair place to drop off a broken tool, Rosie wanted to stop at Kohl's and then another tool store, Walmart, to pick some stuff up for the BBQers that they figured out they needed and Lowes, to get another piece for the new garage door opener I was going to put on while here. Then back out to the Speedway to deliver those goods, pick up their second vehicle (they can only have one in the area.

We didn't even get back to the house and the grands were calling me "Grandpa, where are you guys?" Almost there girls....shheesh. At that point we had about two hours to get some things done before we had to go watch one of #1s' daughters sing. She made a special choir and they had a performance tonight. So I decide to see how far I can get with the opener.

I carefully take the old one apart and start putting the new one together. Meanwhile, Rosie and one of the GDs go get some burgers to eat for supper. I have the pickup backed up to the garage, using the tailgate as a workbench, and listening to the 60s on 6, when all of the sudden, the music starts to get really garbled, I think to myself, WTF? And open the door to find the battery is almost dead.....well dead enough it just clicks.....crap! So,when Rosie gets back I already have the jumpers out and have her pull up to where I can start it and let it run. I actually get the opener up in place, when I have to go in and eat my burger, change and we load the girls up and head out to watch the other GD sing. The place where she is doing this is about a 40 minute drive, so we get there a few minutes late, but don't miss her part, but this place is packed as it includes students from 10 different elementary schools in the area, over 300 6th graders singing. Also some middle schooler and the high school choir that is hosting the performance. Quite impressive really and enjoyable, but it explained why we had to park a looooong way from the place. Surprisingly, we found #1, SIL and the two other grands and were able to sit with them.

Now, back at the house, we have the girls in bed and trying to unwind. I'm hoping tomorrow isn't quite this busy.

Thanks Tom. Now tomorrow I won't complain about any little thing that messes up my day. lol Sleep well ..........
