In my opinion, no. If you are just serving because you are blindly following, it's not. If you are serving to achieve a righteous goal, yes.
The job of a citizen is to support government and be loyal when the government is doing what it is supposed to, and to contest it when it stops doing so.
As far as protesting, I don't always agree with what the protestors say, but freedom of speech is a guaranteed amendment. And if you begin infringing on certain segments of that because you don't like what they say, it's a slippery slope.
