Subject: Re: Where do you live, do you like it there and why? by CorvetteBob on 2009/11/8 3:53:32 (I just re-read this and I never realised how much I hat living in Dayton, Ohio.) I've lived in the Dayton, Ohio 'burbs all my life. at one time, Dayton was a great town. We had ALOT of general motors factories. I used to joke that I was one of the five guys in town WITHOUT GM discount. We also had National Cash Register (NCR). When my dad was working in the toolroom, there were as many as 6500 toolmakers at NCR. Now, NCR has decided to move to Atlanta at the whim of the CEO. Like alot of us in the rust belt, I could go on, but for the sake of bandwidth, I'll stop. As for the weather here, it sucks. Humid as hell, allergens everywhere, sinus problems for all. If I were to suddenly become single, I'd be in AZ (brother) or Norcal(friends). I stay because I work in one of the last jobs here that pays a nearly modest wage. One advantage is the real estate is reasonable. It has to be, because no one is moving here. |
