[Video]BluRay HDMI input and aspect ratio

Subject: [Video]BluRay HDMI input and aspect ratio
by BrianCunningham on 2009/11/9 15:08:54

I plugged my BluRay played into my HDTV using an HDMI connector.

but when I play videos they don't take up the full screen

It's reduced with a black border all the way around in.
Like it's both letterboxing and pillarboxing the signal.
The only way to get it to fill the screen is to zoom the picture on the TV
Which kind of defeats having high def.

It's set to the 16:9 ratio for output.
And the TV says it's getting a 1080p input.

Are BluRay disks 4:3 format like DVD's
