Re: Amsoil vs Royal Purple vs Valvoline

Oil has got to be one of those "Weird Sciences". My car has used both Mobil One and Amsoil since I have owned it. Also, the first 65,000 miles I have no real idea about frequency of changes or types of oil used. However, I will assume Mobil One was used, as the car was owned by a professional woman that probably took it to the dealership for oil changes regularly. I base that assumption on other female Corvette owners in my club. They seem to be very responsible with their Corvettes.

I changed over to Amsoil shortly after buying the car and used it in the transmission, differential, and engine up until approximately 150,000 miles when I rebuilt the motor. When I disassemble the motor it was clean as a whistle with no sludge or any residual whatsoever.

However, since I have had difficulty getting my hands on Amsoil as easily as I used to, I have switched back to MobilOne products after the engine rebuild.

Was Amsoil responsible for such a clean engine? Who knows.
Mobil One is cheaper and seems to work just as good to me at this point. Would I put Amsoil back in it? Probably if I had a dealer close by like I did in the past.
