Re: Amsoil vs Royal Purple vs Valvoline

There are motors out there prone to sludging. Chrysler V6s (same with Mitsu) and some Toyota's are killer.

My MIL has a 2001 Camry, I4, and it is a notorious sludge motor. This is why the mechanic changes oil every 6 months with M1. No problems.

When I did the big engine out on my 92, I found absolutely no sludge ANYWHERE.

The old AMC/Mopar I6 is noted to sludge, but I have been running M1 in it since I bought it 3 years ago, and the insides were super clean!!!

The problem with sludging is that oild cannot go where it needs to, creates hot spots and can cause moving parts to stop moving. Bad... real bad...

I worked on a friends 90 a few years back... and the valley was full of sludge. A total mess.

Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on dino oil for these cars. Synthetics are the best bet.
