I almost burned down the neighborhood

Subject: I almost burned down the neighborhood
by itlgo2 on 2010/4/6 17:04:18

Okay, i am only posting this, as to help anyone else out there that decideds to be an idiot.
At our house we have woods and field, 4 acres, that we try and take care of, part is left to nature, the other part we mow and primp. We have large flower beds in a few different spots, with the ornamental grasses that grow 10 ft. tall.
i read on the net. that an easy way to get them ready for spring growth, is to burn them back, and boy do they burn back. looked like...hell's inferno, almost got my neighbors house along with mine...well, not really, but the field caught fire, and it was tense for a few minutes. A couple of guys stopped to help me try an put it out. One guy ran down to my garage and grabbed my gas leaf blower. It actually freaked me out at first, but the leaf blower actually worked, put the fire out and created a fire break.
glad he knew that little trick. so in case any of you peeps decide to play with matches, keep a hose shovel and leaf blower handy...now back to you're regularly scheduled threads.
