One day PeteK might call me or PM me when he's ready to hook up for breakfast, lunch or dinner when he's in South Florida. Don, wasn't FC_Soldier out in the southwest states? Maybe I'm confused. Ron and Tom, keep doing what your doing. Mrs T-Bone volunteers her and her crews time and effort to a local county owned park (as well as other places). While taking down a fence the other day she met an orchid grower that had come to town for The Redland Fruit and Spice Park International Orchid Festival. The director of the park, her and the orchid grower chatted a little and she eyeballed an orchid he had brought to enter in the orchid competition. My wife purchased a smaller version of the plant from him on the spot and put dibs on the plant he brought for judging and set a price then and there. He gave her a very good price, sort of a reward for her efforts as a volunteer. Turns out the plant won First Place at the show. The vendor had people trying to buy that plant all weekend but he had committed to my wife. So he just told the prospects, no, that's sold. We went to pick the plant up at the end of the show last night. A woman was hovering all the to the end of the show just to make sure she picked it up. The lady would have bought it had we not shown up. We have a few orchids now but looks like a new collection has been spawned at the T-Bone household. If anybody knows anything about collector orchids .... They don't come cheap. Well at least she finds fun stuff to collect. The top one is the new one.     |
