Subject: Re: Change your oil every 3000 miles? by Vetron87 on 2010/9/12 21:25:51 About two years ago I broke the 3,000 mile habit now its 4,500 to 5,000 miles. One of my neighbors is a chemical engineer and his lab has the facilities to test oil. My 89 S-10 with Mobil 1 after 3,000miles had depleaded the dispersates by only 26% @ 4,000 miles 47% and @ 5,000 miles 61% and other criteria of metals and bearing material was slight. I usually don't go beyond 5,000 miles. Other synthetics that I have had tested over the years have not faired as well. The 87 Vette is a seasonal thing. |
