Not to be a naysayer( you know when somebody says that they're a naysayer ) but christians are just one segment of the population. Just means you may have a majority of christians in your locale. Places with a big Irish population have a big St. Paddys Day. Mexican areas the Cinco de Mayo. Down here they have a big Three Kings parade in January. Jewish areas will flaunt the menorah. Just because your big on it doesn't mean everybody is. It's all about respecting others beliefs or non beliefs. So when it comes to taxpayers money not everybody feels comfortable with public money spent on religious displays. On private property or on property operated by a religious concern that's up to local and national regulations. There I feel is the appropriate place for any partisan religious/non religious presentations. {JMO} (Flame suit on).

Geez Tommy........I never thought you were a naysayer. Yeah the Mexicans have their celebrations and so do the Irish but a majority of those groups are Catholics/Christians and they usually do Christmas up right. The Jewish have their own traditions that are not followed by those that believe in the New Covenant. They are still respected since 2/3 of the Bible is the Old Testiment and used for teaching in our Churches every week.

In fact the majority of folks in the U.S. profess a belief in Christ. So if the majority wants a manger scene on the lawn of the courthouse or the ten commandments displayed then why shouldn't they get it. I bet most folks have a town that puts up Christmas decorations on the light poles downtown. The city does that for us every year. I don't think many complain about it. It's part of our culture, and the others need to respect that culture.

I think Christians respect other cultures and religions far more that they respect ours, don't you? And don't even get me started on the whole seperation of Church and State thing. This is all IMHO.
