Like you mentioned, these "unwritten" rules have been followed by the mass membership for quite some time, but it's good to get it in writing. I'd like to make two more points: 1) We have had complaints in the past about "sexy" avatars. This is because many members browse at work, etc, and don't want to open a technical thread with their boss in the background and then have half nude women pop up under a poster's name. That makes sense, so the sexy avatars are a no-no. 2) Andy is more lenient than I am. I really dislike seeing vulgarity in technical-only threads. Off topic is fine, that's the place for it. But I think it detracts from the technical merit of the discussion. I have and will continue to make language edits in technical threads that I feel are negative to the overall problem/resolution. It will usually be in the form of [language edit] or similar. I will send you a pm, not to be condescending or critical, just as a courtesy to let you know since very few people do it intentionally. As always, we appreciate all of our members on the site and we continuously strive to be the #1 internet corvette resource out there! Matthew |
