Once I get it out of the opener, I'll post it up. The screw that turns the gear that got chewed up is made of a very hard plastic. It almost feels like that stuff they make school cafeteria plates out of.

The gear that is chewed up is some kind of nylon or something. The shavings are like dandruff, but larger. The opener is 8 years old, but I don't know if that is average life or not.

I have no idea if it could handle a metal replacement gear. But I would be willing to replace all the damn gears in there with metal if I needed to.

I must admit that a metal gear was the first thing I thought about, having read several posts on C4 headlight gear replacement.

Thanks for the reply, and the offer!

I will also see if I can dig up a schematic or something...
