Tape it in place at the midline of the graphic. Pull one side up and remove the backing to the tape, cut off the backing. Lay it down from the middle out using the squeegee and pressing it outwards. Once done with the first side, remove the tape, pull back the other side, and remove the backing. Repeat. I would not recommend doing it one letter at a time. If you use a soap solution, it's only one drop of soap in an entire spray bottle of water. Shake it up and get the surface wet. This might cause the paper backing to tear or stick, though, so beware. You can get those squeegees at HF in the car care section, they are basically bondo applicators. I have a few in the toolbox that I've used for vinyl applications.
