Had to wait on my wife to do a couple of things. Went out at 10:30. Weather was nice, seas were calm, boat ran great and we caught some keeper grunts and porgies. The boat ran the best it's run in quite a while. No sputtering or stalling. One more reef trip as a precaution, then she'll be ready for an offshore dolphin(mahi-mahi)run. Mahi season is here. You don't want to be 15 miles offshore in a questionable craft. One of the main things I like is that if a boat engine fails you still float. You just have to wait for help. I have 2 radios and two cell phones on board when we go. Usually the cell phones will say No Service when you out on the big blue. I have a marine radio mounted and a hand held back-up. A hand held GPS to tell them where I am. In 30+ years of boating I've never been stranded out deep. I did breakdown once in the deep and a good Samaritan towed me in. I don't want there to be a first time either. People die out there. I've been towed in from the reef several times. That's why I carry tow insurance. One incident will cost you $500 plus. Tow insurance costs a buck fiddy. Worth every penny of it. I have trailer assist insurance too in case I have trailer trouble on the road. 10 bucks. Never used it but it's good to have it.
