Subject: Re: Wednesday Chat 05.23.12 by TommyT-Bone on 2012/5/23 12:14:12 Random rant. I was reading up on piglet training, online. The topic of interest for me was "Why does a pig nub their nose on you?" The answer was that the piglet was removed from weening too early. It looks to you as the mother and noses you attempting to feed. I looked for ways to to change this behavior. What was suggested is you push the piglet away and firmly tell the pig, No! Initially this seemed to work. Soon the piglet returned to the annoying behavior. I pushed the pig back. (Pigs establish dominance in the pack by pushing, jumpinhg on and biting the opponent. Through this the hierarchy is established). Well now the piglet thinks this is a game. She noses my ankle, I push her away and say No! and it returns for more. The pig thinks this is fun. So much for listening to the experts. Guess I'll have to coat my ankles with hot pepper sauce. A few snoots of that and maybe she won't think it's so much fun anymore. |
