Re: Pollution gone wild....

My employer is a world-wide Corporation that has sales/service offices and even a small factory (For Chinese domestic market only) in China. I know our Chinese GM very well.... he says the "only" reason to manufacture in China is Cheap Labor. No other reason... he says its a logistics nightmare over there from the point of finding reliable Supplier lines.

I've never talked to him about Pollution regulations, but I guess it must be pretty lax considering that amazing picture.

As a note, I am involved with the AMT (Association of Manufacturing Technology) they are well aware of the difficulty in getting young talent into the Manufacturing Industry. Most young Engineers are heading into IT and Software related jobs simply because they feel they have done a poor job of selling the Manufacturing Industry. They in conjunction with SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) are creating a host of propoganda video's that are designed to entice the young grads back into the Manufacturing industry by putting a youthful spin and glamour look to the Market. They previewed one at an AMT/AMTDA Conference recently.... was pretty good. Don't know if it will work though. But, as a country, we really need it too. Manufacturing in this country starts and ends with young Tech Engineers devoting their careers to it. Right now, its almost impossible to find talent in this industry.
