It's always about having the right tool for the job. Some years back, we had our driveway expanded around to the side of the garage. In its path, I had installed a basketball hoop some years before, using some kind of nuclear bomb-proof cement to set the post. So I whacked that cement for several hours with a sledge hammer, ruining a pair of glasses in the process from flying debris. I managed to get about 2 inches off the top. When I showed the driveway guy, I asked him if it was down far enough - he said, "We'll just pop that out with the bobcat."
