They almost always gave us one right off the rollers. When I was in my teens we washed the trucks at a downtown bakery at 04:00AM. The ovens were at it full steam and we'd get fresh Italian bread still steaming. Locally the bakeries make Cuban bread at 05:00AM and 05:00PM. That stuff hardens up after a few hours so you have to eat it fresh. We have a local grocery chain that has their own bakeries too. I just love hot and fresh baked goods. One of the good things, whether it is Italian, French or Cuban, you don't have to travel far to get it. Right, BillH? |
