Subject: RE:Racing fans, what's your favorite forms of motorsports? by toptechx6 on 2008/1/27 9:39:09 Drag racing was my first love and remains so today, but feel it has lost something by becoming so professional. Even so called "sportsman" racers tour the country with sponsored backing. Fortunately the average guy can still have fun at the local track without breaking the bank. I enjoy Nascar racing as well, however I am not a fan of the road course events. It takes some time to appreciate the nuances of race strategy that come into play, and of course the cars have nothing in common with "stock" cars anymore. I suppose the illusion at least of rivalry between manufacturers contributes to my enjoyment of the drags and stock cars. Most open wheel racing has little appeal for me probably because I can't relate to the vehicles, but everyone should see the Indy 500 at least once, like the Daytona 500 and US National Drags it is something that must be experienced first hand to appreciate. I've been to Sebring and some other road course events but just never got the bug, not sure why, all just a matter of personal taste, to each his own. |
