I will say I've gotten a tremendous amount of satisfaction from being an instructor, the "Oh yea, now I get it", the smiles and the high fives on the cool down laps are why I did it. And being the Chief of Tech trying to get 70 cars thru the tech line AND then running to jump in a car was exhausting. I'm now only concentrating on race drivers and setting up their cars, more enjoyable for me. And to blow my own horn, one of my guys who I coached put his 1999 Corvette on the pole for the SCCA National Championships last year (got booted off the track in the first turn). A month later, he won the NASA National Championships. The only place I've driven a C7 is on the track, it's much more forgiving than the C5-6 for a new driver. And yea, it's very smooth - impressive. Today we went from this to this: 3 full days at the track next weekend. |
