Yea, big company. The Drott StradleLift I ran was a monster, don't know the capacity but it could pick up some entire 40 ft. loads in one shot. They built the large stuff outside, made doublet beams like for bridges. These could be up to 50 foot long and 8 feet wide, just huge. These were pre-stressed and could bow up to a foot and a half in the center when pulled from the form. Never knew concrete was flexible. The form were steam heated for faster cure. The pre-stress was laying rope wire cables in the form (some up to 1 inch thick) 3 cables per leg. These cables were then hydraulically pulled to 150,000 lbs. tension. Once in a while, the cable would kink (the forms were 150 feet long). The only thing they could do was clear everyone out, sound a siren and get a brave sole to cut the cable with a torch. the cable attached at one end would bow and shoot straight up 150 ft. in the air than, whip around and destroy everything close to it. |
