Re: 9 JULY 17

hey guys....I've been at it since about 7:15. I thought I'd get GSs' Caddy back together before it got too hot. I didn't start early enough, or it just wasn't going to happen at all....second option was it. Took about two hours to get it back together, my fault it took so long. The main bracket, which holds the idler and mounts the alt, has three bolts in the front and one against the side of the block, it's such a PITA to get it into position, I thought I'd get the three front ones started, then do the side. I got the three in the front going and took them down evenly, but not completely tight. Crawled under the car to put the one in the side...it wasn't going to happen. Then I remembered, that bolt had to go in the bracket before it gets screwed into final position, because there is a pipe in the way. So I remove the bolts, take the bracket loose, insert the side bolt then start and run the front bolts back down. Now this sounds easy.....it's NOT. Cost me a good 45 minutes to get it done right. Let me tell you, the thought crossed my mind to just leave that side bolt out...but I didn't. Once that was done three bolts for the alt to mount it, then a heat shield, the belt, the intake box and re-connect the battery. It started right up, no CEL anymore either. He's back in business.

I was soaked from sweat from head to toe, so I took a shower and started packing for the BHCC. Got a text from Marcus so I answered that, we'll meet up on Wednesday.

Thinking a nap this afternoon is in my future. I'll check back later guys.
