Morning guys...The sun is up and bright, but chilly, 28 now and supposedly headed to low 50s.

Graduated from HS and decided that I wanted to do something in the medical field, so went to college. Science classes were a breeze, but Math was my nemesis. I just didn't understand Trig, all that BS made no sense to me. After I got my AA degree I quit school, "I'm done with this crap". So I went to work in the oilfields, well for a company that worked in the fields. I was the truck maintenance guy, dispatcher and managed the retail gas station for the company owners. Rosie finished her RN degree and we were doing very well, everything was paid for and we were rolling right along....then I decided I really needed to finish school.

My best friend, stopped by on his way back to school. As we talked he said, "I can't believe I'll be graduating this semester". When he said that, it was like a 2 x 4 hitting me up side my head....I could be finishing too, if I had only continued. So I told Rosie, I've got to finish my education. That didn't go over well with her...she likes security and no change. But I insisted. "What are you going to do?", she asks, knowing I wouldn't continue with the Medical thing. "I think I want to teach." Both my parents were teachers. And I always found myself teaching things to the kids of my boss at the station.

The next semester I was enrolled at Fort Hays State University taking an Art class, a history class and an Industrial arts class, not sure which way I wanted to go. It quickly became apparent to me I couldn't be an Art teacher.....I just ain't WEIRD enough to be an Art teacher. History...I love, but it just wasn't me. Industrial arts was my perfect fit. I could work with my hands and build things. I loved my shop classes in HS, but that was a time when "shop classes" were for the 'dummies' and anyone with any smarts went to college. I found out there's a lot more to it than that.

Received by BS (that's Bachelor of Science ) degree in '79 and took my first job teaching. The school offered to pay for continuing ed classes, so Immediately started my Masters program to summer of 80 and received my Masters in Industrial Education in 82, again from Fort Hays State University.

I may have more formal education than others here, but. like Tommy, that school of hard knocks is hard to beat, and worth as much as my formal education...maybe more.

OK sorry for the long post. I hope all of you have a great day.
