I agree, get out of debt ASAP. There were times when we struggled making ends meet. Wondering whether or not we could make the end of the month. Shortly after retiring, but was double dipping, we were able to pay off all our debt as well. We still help out our kids, not so much because we have to, but, because we are able to. Rosie's mom and dad, even though they didn't have a lot, helped us a couple times when things were really tough. We remembered that and do what we can when we can.
