Last night after the church council meeting, I spoke to Father about what he wanted, so we went over to look. We discussed what he wanted and I came home with a plan. This morning, while I was working on the door and drawer pieces, I get a text from Father asking me to come to the church, as he has to ask me about the candles. So I run up there and he shows me some candle stands he found in a cabinet..."these will work" he tells me. "Great," I tell him, "where are the other two?" "That's the problem, there are only four. Can you make two more?" These are hand turned, by the priest who was here when the current church building was built (1962), and he built all the candle holders, and much of the other church furniture. I told him, I can duplicate them. So I spent most of the day gluing maple and walnut up in the contrasting patterns to match the other four. I did get most of the cabinet door pieces and the drawer fronts prepped too. I';; try to get the doors finished up tomorrow before the materials come. It stayed pretty chilly all day and the wind blew, but not as hard as it did when the front moved through last night, and no moisture. To say we got a 'dusting' would be being very optimistic. |
