Re: Sunday Morning Chat

I've been AWOL the last few days. Thursday, got up early and drove half way across Colorado and All the way across Kansas to get back to KC. We had a great time in the mountains but it was good to get back. I actually didn't drive ALL the way, I let my 15 year old GD drive from Burlington CO to Hays KS as she needed hours/miles of driving 'practice' before she can get her restricted license on her birthday. It was all Interstate 70 and she got pretty comfortable by the time she was done.Lots of good practice passing without having to worry about traffic coming from the other direction.

Friday I had an appointment at the Apple store which turned out to be a bust the phone is just dead. Then Rosie and I went to look at a different truck. I've been thinking about getting a different one for a few months. Several reasons, but tax-wise it will help us some. I found a 14 High Country Silverado with 24k on it. It sure looked good in the pictures and was in KC area. Went to look at it and you could tell, it hadn't been taken care of and the dealer wanted a way too much difference Started off 24 difference, I just told them "give me my keys we are WAY too far apart". Well, where do we need to be? I told them "I think 15k difference is my max" Of course the salesman about fell out of his chair. "No problem, I'll just go find another truck" Well wait a minute, He went back and came back 19k. "No, what part of 15k are you not understanding?" You'll buy the truck NOW for 15k? Yes and I signed a written offer. I said "Are we doing this?" he said I have to get it approved. When he walked away, I told Rosie, It will never happen. the sales manager came out and was a real DICK getting kind of pissed at me because I would take his offer. In the end we walked out. We went back home and Rorie said "That second guy was not very nice." Nope, he was a DICK.

Got back to #1 daughters' house and I was going through the listings I had saved and ran across another one that really interested me...basically a newer version of my pickup. an hour away (a half hour away from the first dealer). I called and talked to them. Felt pretty good about it, so I told Rosie I was going to look at it, "Well go by yourself I don't want to go through that again." OK. As I was getting in the truck she comes out and says I'd better go too. OK. Well, long story short, we bought this one 2015 Silverado LTZ Z71 23K in beautiful condition. Paid a little more than I wanted to, but it was a really nice truck, so didn't mind paying a little more. The salesman and Manager were very nice. Small family dealership (the other was a BIG Conglomerate)

She drove home like a charm. More later I got to go.
