The neighbors behind me are having their old deck torn down and a new one built - they said it was going to cost around $25,000. The neighbor house's original owner and I both put in our decks in 1990, similar size - he had his built by a contractor, and it cost $5000 and took less than a week. I did mine myself and it cost about $1500, but took me most of the summer. 7 years ago I re-did my decking and railings myself with maintenance-free stuff, and it cost me about $7000.
