I'm sure the participants of Desert Storm did so with patriotic zeal. My thoughts are the men, viewing the carnage on Omaha Beach, charged forward. Man after man getting shot or hit by artillery fire. The surf was red with blood and when the gate dropped they pressed forward past bodies of the dead and dying. Heroism on a massive scale not unlike the conquering armies of the Greeks, Romans, Galls, soldiers under Alexander the Great, Genghis Kahn and more. I guess my point is the sheer size of the armies gathered for a cause who were willing to lay down their lives under the command of their officers without question. Today's youth questions everything. I believe that was the point was trying to make. Listen to me or read anything I write and it's enough to confuse anybody. Even me. |
